History of Sellier/de Gruyter
The publishing house Sellier/de Gruyter was emanated from J. Schweitzer Verlag and exists in this form since 1st January 1981. Dr. Arthur L. Sellier & Co. KG, Wissenschaftliches Verlagskontor (Munich) and Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co. KG (Berlin) hold a share in this partnership.

The family Sellier (now in the 4th generation) is closely connected to the Staudinger since its first edition (1898-1903). Sellier is responsible for contents and concept as well as the support of the 135 authors. Walter de Gruyter is partner since 1939 and responsible for production, marketing and distribution.

Sellier/de Gruyter concentrates on publishing "J. von Staudingers Kommentar zum Bürgerlichen Gesetzbuch mit Einführungsgesetz und Nebengesetzen". This commentary - to this date the largest and at the same time most traditional commentary on the BGB - is published as "Gesamtwerk STAUDINGER" (the basic Staudinger comprises app. 55,000 pages in app. 88 volumes) that is totally new for legal literature: Instead of publishing whole editions, the volumes are revised independently as soon as an updating requires this. Every volume can be purchased individually. Furthermore, there is the possibility of partial subscriptions. More information on purchasing terms you may find here.
