History of sellier. european law publishers
When the Study Group on a European Civil Code asked Patrick Sellier if he wanted to publish the results of their studies on a European Civil Code, he was enthusiastic about the project and incorporated sellier. european law publishers (s.elp) together with his wife Sandra in summer 2000. Furthermore, s.elp was chosen to engage co-publishers in other Member States of the European Union.

The first publication of the Study Group - the Principles of European Law "Benevolent Intervention in Another's Affairs" and "Commercial Agency, Franchise and Distribution Contracts" - were published in Spring 2006. In the meantime, s.elp has build up a remarkable range of books and journals in the field of European Community Law, International Commercial Law, as well as, Private International Law. In addition to multilingual text collections, welcomed by practitioners and academics for applying and interpreting EU directives, commentaries, compendiums and textbooks form essential parts of s.elp's publishing program. Conference proceedings and anniversary publications, doctoral theses that deal with forward-looking topics of Law research, as well as the renowned "Yearbook of Private International Law" round out the range of our books.

The authors and editors that are publishing with s.elp are well-known academics and practitioners from many different European countries.

Not only do we have high standards for the content of our books, but we also attach great importance to the appearance of our books and journals. With an innovative and keen sense of book design, Sandra Sellier gave a distinctive appearance to all our publications. In 2003 she won the "Sponsorship Prize for Young Book Designers" that was awarded by Stiftung Buchkunst (Germany).

Patrick Sellier is a fourth generation publisher of legal literature. He continues the tradition begun by his great-grandfather in 1898 by creating the innovative s.elp.

In 2007, sellier. european law publishers together with the advertising agency KOSCH (München) updated its Corporate Design.
After almost 100 years, the bee of the Selliers' family crest returns. Arthur Sellier, great-grandfather of todays publisher Patrick Sellier, used the crest with seven bees around a skep for his publishing house and bookshop J. Schweitzer.
Now, the new logo of s.elp is a reduced and modernised bee.
